Job Description

General Description Working under the supervision of the Welding Supervisor, and under the direction of the Manual Welding Specialist, this position is responsible for manual welding, using measuring instruments, reading blueprints, making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, engaging in daily housekeeping activities, and otherwise maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Responsibilities and Duties 1. Reference blueprints and understand work order instructions. 2. If necessary, confer with Supervisor or Manual Welding Specialist to determine job requirements. 3. Gather necessary materials and perform layout per specifications. 4. Set up welding machine and adjust settings per the work order instructions. 5. Position, clamp, and/or tack weld as needed before beginning welding process. 6. Visually examine welds for adherence to quality standards and blueprint compliance. 7. Re-weld defective joints and remove surplus slag or splatter using a brush, grinder, chisel, etc. 8. Call for Quality Control when product is ready for inspection. 9. Follow all company and safety policies, guidelines, and rules. 10. Follow all quality standards 11. Meet and/or exceed production goals. 12. Work in a fast-paced environment. 13. Stay focused and on task with minimal supervision. 14. Perform other duties as assigned. 15. Maintain a clean and organized work area. 16. Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Qualifications and Skills A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Welding certificate or minimum one (1) year production welding experience is preferred. Work Environment Industrial manufacturing environment with loud noise level. Facility is enclosed and is ventilated and heated but not air conditioned. Safety-toe footwear, safety eyewear, and hearing protection required. Gloves or other PPE as needed. Physical Demands Spends more than three-quarters (3/4) of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands, and reaching. Able to lift up to 75 lbs. and occasionally position heavier material with the aid of lifting device(s). Use stands as a fulcrum to slide and maneuver steel bars and tubes. Lift and move heavy items via overhead crane and forklift. Generally requires clear vision at close distances for reading blueprints, instructions, and precision measuring instruments. Hours First shift hours are 7:30 AM - 3:45 PM, Monday through Friday. Second shift hours are 3:45 PM - 11:45 PM, Monday through Friday. Third shift hours are 11:45 PM - 7:30 AM, Sunday through Thursday.
