Weekend Breakdown Coordinator – Job Summary
This position involves overseeing a wide network of repair and towing vendors while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of a transportation fleet.
Schedule: Saturday through Tuesday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PMSalary: $65,000 - $70,000
Key Responsibilities:
  • Route equipment to appropriate repair vendors based on urgency, equipment condition, part availability, and driver scheduling needs.
  • Authorize and manage significant repair expenditures via comchecks and credit cards, using discretion to determine whether to repair on the road or tow to a central facility.
  • Coordinate with fleet managers to manage delivery schedules and maintain compliance with hours of service regulations.
  • Oversee repair timing in relation to drivers’ breaks and time off.
  • Work with safety managers on temperature-controlled shipments, including load transfers when reefer units fail.
  • Manage warranty claims and coordinate with Freightliner, Volvo, IHC, and Detroit Diesel networks, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up for dealer credits.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records in compliance with FMCSR Section 396 using internal software systems.
  • Coordinate driver accommodations, including hotels and transportation, during equipment-related downtime.
  • Oversee the shipment of parts across locations and manage central inventory to support timely repairs.
  • Maintain and update the fleet breakdown contact list for efficient repair coordination.
  • Handle over 175 breakdown calls per day, ensuring timely, cost-effective repairs using internal tools and external vendor databases.
  • Assist with additional maintenance-related duties and receive hands-on training in shop operations.
