Job Summary:The Water Treatment Specialist/Maintenance is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective operation of water treatment systems, including monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment. This role involves maintaining water quality standards, performing regular maintenance on treatment facilities, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.Key Responsibilities:
- Operation and Monitoring:
- Operate and monitor water treatment equipment, such as pumps, filters, and chemical feeders.
- Test water samples for chemical and microbiological contaminants to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Adjust treatment processes based on testing results to maintain water quality.
- Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on water treatment equipment and facilities.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with pumps, valves, motors, and other equipment.
- Repair or replace faulty components as needed to maintain continuous operation.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that all water treatment processes comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of water quality testing, treatment adjustments, and equipment maintenance.
- Assist in preparing reports for regulatory agencies and internal use.
- Safety and Environmental Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals used in water treatment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of water treatment facilities and equipment.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to improve treatment processes and efficiency.
- Participate in ongoing training and certification programs to stay updated on best practices and regulations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of procedures to improve water treatment operations.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other maintenance staff, engineers, and plant operators to ensure smooth facility operations.
- Communicate with supervisors and management about system performance and potential improvements.
- Assist in training new staff and sharing expertise with team members.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in water treatment operations, maintenance, or a related field
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of water treatment processes and equipment.
- Proficiency in using water quality testing instruments and interpreting results.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and report generation.
- Knowledge of water regulations per the City of St. Joseph
- Strong technical knowledge of welding, CNC, lathes, lasers, saws, overhead cranes
