Shipping Manager
Job Summary:The Shipping Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of shipping processes within the company. This includes coordinating shipments, ensuring accuracy in orders, managing the shipping team, and ensuring compliance with legal and safety regulations. The Shipping Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency of the supply chain and ensuring customer satisfaction.Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervision of Shipping Activities:
    • Oversee daily shipping operations, ensuring timely and accurate shipment of goods.
    • Coordinate with warehouse staff, drivers, and couriers to ensure smooth and efficient processes.
    • Monitor inventory levels and manage reorders to prevent stockouts.
  • Team Management:
    • Supervise, train, and evaluate shipping team members.
    • Assign tasks and ensure that team members are working efficiently.
    • Address any personnel issues, provide coaching, and foster a positive working environment.
  • Coordination and Communication:
    • Liaise with other departments such as production, sales, and customer service to ensure seamless operations.
    • Communicate with external vendors, carriers, and customers regarding shipping schedules and issues.
    • Negotiate rates and services with shipping companies and freight carriers.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
    • Ensure all shipping activities comply with company policies and government regulations, including hazardous materials handling.
    • Maintain accurate records of shipping activities, costs, and inventory levels.
    • Prepare and review shipping documents, such as bills of lading and customs forms, to ensure accuracy.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance shipping efficiency and reduce costs.
    • Analyze shipping data and metrics to track performance and make informed decisions.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in logistics technology.
  • Safety and Security:
    • Ensure that all shipping activities adhere to safety standards and regulations.
    • Implement security measures to protect goods during transit.
Qualifications:
  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years of experience in a shipping, logistics, or supply chain management role.
    • Previous experience in a supervisory or management position.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in logistics and inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.).
    • Knowledge of shipping regulations, customs procedures, and compliance.
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
