Job Overview
The Medication Aide plays a crucial role in providing care and support to patients in various healthcare settings. This position involves assisting with medication administration, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, and maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and have experience in caregiving, particularly with individuals requiring specialized care such as those with dementia.
Schedule: 6:00AM to 6:00PM rotating days scheduled and weekends. 
Responsibilities
  • Administer medications to patients as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects from medications.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and nutrition.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of medication administration and patient care activities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families about medication management and health maintenance.
  • Uphold a clean and safe environment for all patients, adhering to infection control standards.
Skills
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy is essential for effective communication and documentation.
  • Experience in caregiving, particularly in settings involving dementia care or hospital environments.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic is preferred.
  • Ability to perform catheter care and tube feeding competently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and their families.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate medication administration and recordkeeping.
  • Compassionate approach to patient care, demonstrating empathy and understanding in all interactions.
