Associate Accountant (Insurance Filing & A/P Expertise)
Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
$20-$25/hr depending on experience
Job Description:We are seeking an experienced Associate Accountant with strong Accounts Payable (A/P) expertise and insurance filing experience to join our dynamic finance team. This role will focus on managing the full A/P cycle while also supporting insurance-related financial documentation and ensuring regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities:
  • Accounts Payable Management:
    • Oversee the full A/P cycle, including invoice processing, verification, coding, and timely payment to vendors.
    • Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable transactions, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
    • Reconcile vendor statements, resolving any discrepancies or disputes.
    • Ensure that all A/P processes are compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
    • Assist in the preparation of A/P aging reports and support month-end closing activities.
  • Insurance Filing:
    • Prepare and submit insurance filings accurately and on time.
    • Track and analyze insurance-related expenses, premiums, and claims, ensuring proper documentation.
    • Liaise with insurance companies and internal departments to resolve filing issues or discrepancies.
  • General Ledger & Reconciliation:
    • Assist with maintaining and reconciling accounts payable and insurance-related general ledger accounts.
    • Conduct regular reconciliations of vendor accounts and insurance liabilities.
  • Audit Support:
    • Prepare supporting documentation for internal and external audits, with a focus on A/P and insurance filings.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify areas for process improvement within A/P operations and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Cross-department Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the procurement, risk management, and other departments to ensure seamless A/P processes and accurate insurance documentation.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate's degree or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 2-4 years of strong Accounts Payable experience.
    • Specific experience in insurance filings is preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite, or similar).
    • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
    • Familiarity with A/P best practices and insurance filing procedures.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Strong communication skills for liaising with vendors and internal teams.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with large volume A/P transactions and multi-department coordination.
  • Knowledge of tax filings related to insurance or risk management.
  • Experience working in the insurance or finance industry.
